This pilot project requires the development and delivery of a course that will equip participants with the skills to support survivors of sexual violence. The course will cover understanding of and approaches to the issue, the difference between counselling, advocacy, practical, emotional and peer support. At the end of the course, participants will be able to provide one to one peer support, maintain personal boundaries and have a thorough knowledge of the meanings and impacts of sexual violence. It will provide a foundation in understanding the legal and policy frameworks and the roles and responsibilities of different agencies. This will ensure that those completing the course know the limits of their own competence and are able to signpost to other agencies.
