Short Course: Sexual Exploitation of Children and Young People
Due to COVID-19 this short course will be delivered virtually.
This course focuses on the sexual exploitation of children and young people in the UK and global contexts. Sessions cover: definitions and framings, methodological and ethical challenges of researching sexual exploitation, evidence and prevalence, abusers and coercers, policy and legislative approaches, and promising practices in intervention, protection and prevention. Specific forms of sexual exploitation will be explored, such as commercial and informal exploitation, trafficking, sex tourism, abusive images of children, and how new technologies are facilitating online grooming and ‘sexting’.
