Hidden Depths Briefing 1

This is our first briefing resulting from a two-year research partnership with Rape Crisis England Wales exploring Rape Crisis data, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. The Briefing focuses on the profile of those who use Rape Crisis services and their experiences of sexual violence. It was found that a high proportion of service users are unemployed, at least one third have a disability and at least one in ten are BME. Survivors using Rape Crisis services have experienced a wide range of forms of sexual and other violence and abuse, and many have experienced multiple forms. Around three quarters of survivors experienced sexual violence in childhood, and one third had in adulthood
